During the summer of 2005, Jared Dunnmon was a high
school student at The Summit Country Day School in Cincinnati when he
worked on a JINA project with Michigan State University's High School
Honor Science Program. In 2007, he was selected as semifinalist of the
66th INTEL Science Talent Search for his paper that presented results
on X-ray burst modeling, information and research gleaned from his participation
in a JINA project that was carried out at MSU's National Superconducting
Cyclotron Laboratory.
Jared recently contacted Dr. Hendrik Schatz with an exciting
update on his academic career, announcing that he will be attending
Duke University this fall on a full tuition merit scholarship (the Angier
B. Duke Memorial Scholarship). "The research I did at your lab went
a long way in the interview and selection process because it was so
unique and still very accessible," Jared wrote. "I just wanted to thank
you again for all the work you've put in on my behalf over the past
few years and I will stay in touch."
Congratulations and best wishes, Jared! -JINA faculty and staff
