Published Mon, 02/19/2024 - 9:28 AM Expiration Fri, 03/15/2024 - 12:00 AM or until the posting is filled

The Theoretical Astrophysics Group at the TU Darmstadt works on understanding the origin of heavy elements with astrophysics simulations of supernova explosions and compact binary mergers that probe nuclear matter at the extremes and with nucleosynthesis calculations that involve the most neutron-rich nuclei.

The goal of the PhD position is to perform hydrodynamical simulations of core-collapse supernovae with the final aim of studying the nucleosynthesis. This  is a 3-year position within the collaborative research center (SFB 1245). The candidate should have a Master in physics (or equivalent) and background on nuclear astrophysics.

Applications including CV, publication list, research statement (1 page), and two names of potential referees should be sent until March 15, 2024 to: almudena.arcones@physik.tu-darmstadt.de
