The E.A. Milne Centre for Astrophysics at the University of Hull is seeking applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Astrophysics. Funded by our Horizon-2020 programme (ChETEC-INFRA: Chemical Elements as Tracers of the Evolution of the Cosmos), this 2.5-year position will see the successful candidate play a leadership role within one of the critical Nuclear Astrophysics Work Packages devoted to understanding the production of elements in different stellar environments, performing computational nuclear astrophysics studies, and helping to define the most relevant reaction rates to target in the next generation of nuclear experiments. Aligned with the core mission of ChETEC-INFRA, the position will entail the provision of support for nuclear astrophysics studies for a number of external users and the delivery of training sessions in nucleosynthesis.

The Milne Centre was established in 2015, and has positioned itself as one of the fastest growing (30 staff and postgraduate students) and dynamic new research groups in the UK.  Centre staff and students have shaped the provision of High Performance Computing at the University of Hull, hosted the National Astronomy Meeting and multiple UKRI/STFC Summer Schools, and secured more than £2M in grants, in its brief existence.  Centre activities are rooted deeply within the regional community, and its staff and students are recognised as national leaders in outreach, engagement, and widening participation.

To discuss this role informally, please contact Dr Marco Pignatari (m.pignatari@hull.ac.uk) or Prof Brad Gibson (Head of Department) brad.gibson@hull.ac.uk
