A postdoctoral fellowship is presently available with the many-body nuclear dynamics group at Indiana University, Bloomington. The group conducts experimental research in low and intermediate energy nuclear reactions with an emphasis on the topic of near and sub-barrier fusion reactions using radioactive beams. To pursue our research we conduct experiments at various accelerator facilities including ReA3@NSCL (Michigan State University) and Notre Dame University. We are presently planning to propose a FRIB "Day One" experiment. At Indiana University we design, construct, and test the detector and electronic systems that make these measurements possible. An upcoming approved fusion experiments at MSU-NSCL is the present focus of the research program. The successful candidate will be expected to take the lead role in all aspects of group activities from execution of the experiments and analysis of the resulting data. Candidates are expected to have expertise in using modern nuclear instrumentation as well as experimental and data analysis techniques. A strong background in instrumentation is essential. Experience with advanced simulation and analysis tools (e.g. ROOT) is desirable. More information about the group can be found at http://nuchem.iucf.indiana.edu.

Candidates are required to have a Ph.D. in nuclear/particle science (physics or chemistry) or expect to defend their Ph.D. thesis in the near future. A competitive salary along with a benefits package will be offered. Interested candidates should send a cover letter, curriculum vitae, together with the names and contact information of two potential references to Prof. Romualdo deSouza at deSouza@indiana.edu. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
