Postdoctoral Positions in Experimental Nuclear Physics

University of Sao Paulo Sao Paulo , Brazil

Published Mon, 07/26/2021 - 11:52 AM Expiration Fri, 09/03/2021 - 12:00 AM or until the posting is filled

The Open Laboratory of Nuclear Physics (LAFN) of the Institute of Physics of the University of São Paulo, Brazil is inviting applications for two positions of Post Doctoral Research Fellow in experimental nuclear physics in São Paulo, Brazil.

The activities are focused on nuclear reaction studies using weakly bound radioactive and stable beams produced by the Pelletron Accelerator of LAFN and the RIBRAS system (Radioactive Ion Beams in Brasil). RIBRAS produces beams of 6He, 7,10Be, 8,12B, 8Li, at energies of about 3-5 MeV/n. The recently approved upgrade in detection, electronics and data acquisition needs the contribution of young, excellent researchers, with interest aligned with our research activities.

We expect the candidates to have a PhD in nuclear science, be able to perform independent work with hardware and software. The candidates are expected to contribute to the installation of new digital electronics/acquisition software for the existing different detector arrays (energy and position sensitive Neutron Wall, charged particle telescopes with pixeled DeltaE detectors), or in construction (Lyso-SiPm array). The candidates will participate in experiments using radioactive and stable beams and are encouraged to propose independent research intitatives.

The term of appointment is for two years. The deadline for application is 30/09/2021.

We invite interested candidates to submit their application with a curriculum vitae, a brief statement on research experience and interests together with names of three references who will be willing to provide letters of recommendation.

The application should be sent by email to:
