Multiple Institutions United States

Published Tue, 10/05/2021 - 8:56 AM Expiration Mon, 11/01/2021 - 12:00 AM or until the posting is filled

We are soliciting applications for several postdoctoral research positions as part of the Nuclear Physics of Multi-Messenger Mergers (NP3M) Focus Research Hub in Theoretical Physics, supported by the National Science Foundation. We seek applicants from the range of disciplines that are needed to understand the physics of neutron star mergers. Applicants will gain experience across the science pursued by NP3M. Applicants with experience in areas such as gravitational wave astronomy, multimessenger observations of neutron stars, the physics of hot and/or dense strongly-interacting matter, the nature of exotic nuclei, r-process nucleosynthesis, and computational astrophysics are strongly encouraged to apply.

These postdocs will be employees of either the University of Tennessee, Syracuse University, Penn State University, the University of Houston, or Indiana University but may also perform research at any one of the institutions represented by the NP3M senior investigators. See https://np3m.org for a complete list and for more information about our collaboration. For full consideration, applications are due by November 1st, 2021, for positions beginning in the Fall of 2022, but late applications may be considered and earlier start dates are possible. A complete application consists of a CV, a research statement which summarizes recent research achievements and details a future research program, a diversity statement (see below), a publication list, and the contact information for at least three recommendations.
