Professorship (W1) for Experimental Physics

The appointment as professor (salaried employee) is for six years (§ 64 of the Higher Education Act of the State of Hessen (HHG)) and subject to a midterm review. According to § 64, para. 3 HHG the doctorate should not date back to more than four years.

The professorship is competitively announced in two different subject areas of experimental physics. We are looking for an early career researcher whose research profile is either in the field of "Proton-induced reactions and their applications in experimental astrophysics" or in the area of experimental solid-state physics with a focus on "Materials development of electronically correlated or low-dimensional quantum materials".

The successful applicant should be able to exhibit international competitive research experience, demonstrated by an excellent publication record. It is expected that she / he will work closely with the existing groups in the respective research area. Furthermore, in the application ideas for the establishment of interdisciplinary projects with the Institute of Geosciences are requested, in particular with the group of the Wilhelm Heraeus Endowed Chair for Deep Earth Processes.

The salary for the position is based on “W1” on the German university scale.
